The Wizard's Hat

The Wizard's Hat is a collaboration between two artists Jeffrey Bowman and Andrew J. Miller. It is basically a platform for producing collaborative projects under one name.

The illustrations contain endless amounts of detail even though they are constructed through simple shapes, figures, patterns and lines.

Adam Hayes

Hayes uses intricate lines and a large amount of detail to complete his illustrations. The controlled and simple colour palette enhances the extreme detail of fine lines within the image.

Jeffery Bowman aka Mr. Bowlegs

Mr. Bowlegs creates an interesting montage with illustration and patterns. The contrast between the realistic imagery and the hand illustrations develops an obvious narrative between the two styles.

Things I Have Learned

Inspired by Sagmeister's visual interpretations of "things I have learned", I will be producing a visual interpretation of a life lesson selected from a list of things I have learned in my life or have yet to learn.

1. Never leave room for regret.

2. Never take anything for granted. 

3. Nothing is original.

4. Nothing lasts forever.

5. Things aren't always as they seem.

6. Perfection can lead to both success or failure.

7. Appreciate what you have.

8. Keep friends close and your enemies closer

9. Don't let fear take over.

10. Stay true to yourself.

Rebecca Belmore

After creating a photo series based on the struggles and frustrations of life and various choices, I was shown this photographer, Rebecca Belmore who's photographs closely resemble a few photographs in my collection. The figure that is wrapped in fabric creates a unique shape and reveals the fabrics' texture, and creates depth within the photograph. I have become extremely interested in the use of fabric within photography.

Memory

When thinking of a way to express the concept of memory, I immediately turned to the stories that can be tied to various garments of clothing.  Many people keep journals which often hold various memories and narratives. The relation between clothing and journals influenced the idea of creating dress of paper. These are a few images that were found for reference.  Jolis Paons is an artist that has created dress from paper, and explores the unique ways of folding techniques to add various textures.
